England U21s thrash Serbia 9-1 in Euro 2025 qualifying

England Under 21s thrashed Serbia 9-1 in Euro 2025 qualifying in their first home game since winning the European Championships.

The Young Lions ran riot at Nottingham Forest's City Ground, with Chelsea forward Noni Madueke scoring a hat-trick on his debut. Debutant Jaden Philogene-Bidace also netted twice, while there were also goals for Conor Gallagher, Harvey Vale, Liam Delap and Fabio Carvalho.

It was a dominant display from England, who controlled the game from start to finish. They took the lead after just four minutes when Madueke finished off a fine move involving Philogene-Bidace and Gallagher.

Philogene-Bidace doubled the lead just six minutes later, before Madueke made it 3-0 with a stunning strike from outside the box.

Gallagher added a fourth before the break, and England continued to pour forward after the restart. Philogene-Bidace made it 5-0 with a cool finish, before Vale made it 6-0 with a header.

Delap and Carvalho then came off the bench to add further goals, as England rounded off a memorable night in style.

The win takes England top of Group F, with six points from their opening two games. They will now face Kosovo away in their next match, before hosting Albania in October.

Conclusion

This was a statement of intent from England U21s, who showed that they are a force to be reckoned with in this qualifying campaign. They will be confident of reaching the finals in Romania and Georgia in 2023, and they will be one of the favorites to win the tournament.
